Dear Parishioners,

This past Friday was our first all day adoration at St. Mary’s. Over 20 parishioners dedicated their time to make sure the church doors were able to remain open for prayer.

What is adoration? Following morning Mass, the priest places a consecrated host in a display called a monstrance which sits atop the altar till he removes it at 8 pm. Everyone in the church can see the host and pray to it.

Our belief in the real presence of Christ in the Eucharistic allows us to point to the host and truly say, “that is Jesus”.

“In the most blessed sacrament of the Eucharist "the body and blood, together with the soul and divinity, of our Lord Jesus Christ and, therefore, the whole Christ is truly, really, and substantially contained.” (CCC 1374)

For this reason, Catholics throughout the centuries have had a desire to sit and kneel in silent prayer in the presence of Jesus. This act of being present to Jesus in the Eucharist is called Adoration.

We will continue adoration every Friday from 10 am - 8 pm. Please stop by for a prayer. A good way to end your work week and start the weekend is to make a visit to Jesus in adoration.

God Bless,

Fr. David Reitzel
